You are invited to submit an abstract for the joint 8th Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Congress (APGC) and SNEC 35th Anniversary International Meeting.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

To assist the Program Committee in deciding if your abstract will be selected for the final congress program, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The official submission template should be used
  • The maximum word length for the abstract title is 25 words
  • The maximum word length for the abstract content is 300 words (excluding references, title and section headings)
  • Abstracts must be written in the English language
  • Must be written in the format: introduction, methods, results, conclusion
  • Abstracts submitted for the film festival category do not need to follow the standard abstract template – rather we require a 250 word outline of your potential video for the film festival
  • Abstracts must be submitted using the official submission template
  • Only Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) file formats will be accepted
  • The submitting presenter must ensure that all co-presenters have read the approved title, summary, presenter names and affiliations

Submitters are also asked to include a short biography for the presenting author with a maximum word length of 120 words (written in third person) and a presenting author head and shoulders portrait photograph

Congress themes

The program committee will be looking for presentations that address any of the below congress themes:

  • Basic and laboratory sciences
  • Epidemiology, quality of life and health economics
  • Glaucoma genetics and biomarkers
  • Glaucoma imaging and investigation
  • Glaucoma innovation and artificial intelligence
  • Laser and other non-incisional therapies
  • Medical treatment
  • Miscellaneous
  • Rehabilitation and prevention of blindness
  • Surgery and wound healing

Review of abstracts

All abstracts submitted before the deadline will undergo review, resulting in one of the following results:

  • Abstract accepted as poster and/or oral presentation
  • Abstract accepted as a film festival video
  • Abstract declined

Notification of abstract acceptance will be made after the review process is complete. 

Abstract Awards

In 2024, several awards will be given; best poster presentation, best oral presentation and best film festival video, with the best overall abstract winning a travel grant to the value of USD500. Winners will be announced after presentations have been viewed during the congress.  

Film Festival Abstracts

BACK IN 2026! Submit your Film Festival abstract!

After successful Film Festival presentations in past congresses, the Program Committee is once again hosting this initiative in 2026! Abstracts for videos to be included in a film festival will be accepted. We ask that you submit your video and a short summary outlining what your video will include.

Short Summary guidelines:
  • The maximum word length for the abstract title is 25 words
  • The maximum word length for the abstract content is 250 words (excluding the title)
  • Abstracts must be written in the English language
  • Abstracts submitted for the film festival category do not need to follow the standard abstract template - rather we require a 250 word outline of your potential video for the film festival
  • Only Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) file formats will be accepted
  • The submitting presenter must ensure that all co-presenters have read the approved title, summary, presenter names and affiliations

Video submission guidelines:
  • No more than seven (7) minutes in length
  • Should contain audio commentary
  • Content should match your short summary
  • It is mandatory to include a title slide at the start of your video with presentation title and author name
  • Videos should be submitted in a standard video format such as MPEG / MP4 with a minimum resolution of 1280x720
  • Videos need to be submitted via a URL, ensuring that the link is accessible without the need to login or ask permission to view/download. Some examples of URL platforms can include: Vimeo, YouTube
  • Ensure your Film Festival video is easily identifiable - i.e. with your name as the file name

Publication of presentations

Photos, audio and/or video recordings made throughout the event may be made available to the registered delegates of the meeting or available publicly. 

This material may be used to order to promote future APGC meetings. If you do not agree with the above, but wish to submit an abstract, please notify the program manager at program@apgcongress.org

Publication of abstracts

All accepted abstracts will be published as they are submitted with no changes possible – therefore please ensure your work is thoroughly checked prior to submission. 

APGC 2026 will be allowing submissions of previously presented/published work for consideration. 

Terms and conditions

All abstract submitters are required to agree to the below terms and conditions prior to submitting their work for review:

  • Submitting author hereby commits with the present data protection and privacy policy.
  • Submitting authors must declare that the abstract/s submitted are the original work of at least one author/presenter
  • All accepted presenters are required to register, pay, attend and present their material at APGC 2026
  • No funding is provided to presenters
  • If the submission is selected, consent is provided for the presentation slides (for oral presenters), video, audio recording and photos taken during the oral presentation/poster presentation to be used and published by APGC 2026 including being provided to delegates of the APGC 2026 Congress
  • Submitting authors must declare the work described in the abstract/full paper has appropriate approval under local, ethical and animal experimentation rules
  • Submitting authors must declare that their work does not conflict with any existing copyright agreements with alternate publishers
  • Submitting authors provide consent for their presentation materials to be used to assist with promoting APGC 2026, future APGC events and on-demand content

FAQ

Q: How do I submit?

A: All abstract submissions are required to be completed online. To submit your abstract, click the submit abstract tab above. Please read the abstract submission guidelines prior to commencing your submission as this document contains important information. Please note, emailed submissions will not be accepted. 

Q: What type of presentations are available?

A: Oral, poster and film festival presentations are available. You will be able to indicate your preference during the submission process. The APGC 2026 program committee will endeavour to allocate your preference, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Q: Can I use QR codes in my abstract submission?
A: No, QR codes are not permitted in submissions. However, they may be used in presentations.
Q: Can funding or disclaimer statements be included?

A: Yes, if applicable. They should be placed at the bottom of the abstract and are not included in the word count.

Q: When will congress registration open?
A: Registration prices and inclusions are still being confirmed. Please ensure that you regularly check the congress website for updates. 
Q: When will authors be notified of submission acceptance or otherwise?
A: Authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission via email in March 2026.
Q: Are presenters required to register for APGC 2026?

A: Yes. As a presenter you are required to register and pay to attend the congress. To ensure the integrity of the program and guarantee the program will be as advertised once released, we will require all presenters to register and commit to attending the congress. Any presenters not registered for the congress will not have their submission included in the program.
