Synopsis:

This 90-minute workshop provides participants with a comprehensive and practical understanding of how intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography (iOCT) is transforming ophthalmic microsurgery. iOCT provides real-time cross-sectional imaging that enhances surgical precision, intraoperative decision- making, and patient outcomes in anterior and posterior segment procedures.

Participants will gain insights into the clinical applications of iOCT across three major subspecialties: corneal, glaucoma, and vitreoretinal surgery. The workshop includes interactive case discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice with the latest iOCT-integrated surgical platforms in collaboration with industry partners.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and technical capabilities of intraoperative OCT.
  • Recognize the benefits and limitations of iOCT in anterior and posterior segment surgeries.
  • Evaluate real-world clinical applications of iOCT in corneal surgeries, glaucoma procedures and vitreoretinal surgeries.
  • Gain hands-on experience using iOCT-integrated surgical systems.

Target Audience

Ophthalmologists, ophthalmology trainees, and allied eye care professionals with an interest in anterior
and posterior segment surgery, surgical innovation, and intraoperative imaging technologies.

Logistics & Requirements

Ophthalmologists, ophthalmology trainees, and allied eye care professionals with an interest in anterior
and posterior segment surgery, surgical innovation, and intraoperative imaging technologies.

  • Wet-lab/training rooms setup with surgical microscopes and iOCT systems
  • Audio-visual support for case videos and imaging projection
  • Rotating group stations for hands-on activities
  • Pre-registration to limit group sizes and ensure adequate interaction
