Dr Hommer has research interests in glaucoma, clinical trials, compliance and medical therapy. He has given more than 1000 lectures both nationally and internationally in more than 60 different counties worldwide. Dr Hommer is principal and/or regular investigator in phase 3 studies for glaucoma treatment since 1994. He received “The best inspected study centre award 2012” by AGES.
He is a member of the German Society of Ophthalmology (DOG), the European Glaucoma Society (EGS), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), The European Association for Vision and Eye Research (EVER), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the Austrian Ophthalmology Society (ÖOG) and the Viennese Ophthalmology Society (WOG). From 2016 – 2018 Dr
Hommer was a member of the Continuing Medical Education Committee (CME) of ARVO.
Dr. Hommer is also a reviewer for several peer reviewed journals. Dr. Hommer is one of the writers and contributors of the 3rd, 4th and 5th “Terminology and Guidelines for Glaucoma” of the EGS (2008, 2014, 2020).
