Dr Woo is a Glaucoma Specialist and Assistant Medical Director at International Specialist Eye Centre (ISEC) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is also Southeast Asian Lead Resource Coordinator for AIER Eye Hospital Group, China.
Dr Woo has a particular interest in the management of complex secondary glaucoma utilising a variety of Glaucoma Drainage Devices. Dr Woo also retains a longstanding interest in Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery having first used MIGS devices in 2015 and subsequently becoming the first surgeon to set up a MIGS service in Northeast England in 2017.
Dr Woo returned to Malaysia in 2019 after 22 years in the United Kingdom, having previously worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Sunderland Eye Infirmary and York Hospital.
General Ophthalmology training was completed in Newcastle and Glaucoma training was undertaken at Sunderland before he went on to complete the well-regarded Glaucoma Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr Woo graduated from UCL Medical School where he was awarded a scholarship to study Medicine. During this time, he also received a second scholarship to complete an Intercalated BSc.
Dr Woo has a keen interest in medical education and is a both a trainer and examiner for the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists FRCOphth examinations. He is also a reviewer for several peer-reviewed Ophthalmology journals.
