Dr. Edgar U. Leuenberger is Director of the Glaucoma Fellowship Program and Co-Director of the Glaucoma Service of the Asian Eye Institute, Philippines. He is Associate Professor I in Ophthalmology and is Chief of the Glaucoma Services at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center ( UERMMMC) and Ospital ng Makati. He finished his medical degree from the UERMMMC College of Medicine in 1991. He obtained his ophthalmology residency and served as chief resident at the UERMMMC in 1995.
This was followed by a fellowship in adult and pediatric glaucoma at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary , Harvard Medical School in 1998. His main advocacy is uplifting the plight of visually disabled marginalized Filipinos through his active involvement with the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines ( OFPHIL ) , for which he served as President from 2017 -2021. His research interests are improvement and development of glaucoma diagnostic and surgical procedures and has garnered numerous awards in competitions. He has published journal articles , book chapters, teaching materials,
and lectures nationally and internationally.
