Dr. Maria Imelda Yap-Veloso finished her medical school and residency training in ophthalmology at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine-Philippine General Hospital. She completed her glaucoma clinical fellowship at the Harvard Medical School- Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Yap-Veloso is Past President, Philippine Glaucoma Society and Board of Trustees, Philippine Glaucoma Foundation. She is Co-Director of the Glaucoma Service, Asian Eye Institute, Philippines. She is also Clinical Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and Consultant, Glaucoma Service, Sentro Oftalmologico Jose Rizal, Philippine General Hospital. At present, Dr. Yap-Veloso is Vice-Chairman and Head of the Training Committee of the Department of Ophthalmology and Chief of the Glaucoma Service, Rizal Medical Center. She has authored numerous local and international publications and has given several lectures both locally and internationally in glaucoma.
