Dr. Noel Chan graduated from the medical school of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with first class honors and Kan Tong Po Gold Medal for Medical Studies in 2006. She obtained her FRCSEd(Ophth) in 2012 and FHKAM(Ophth) in 2013. She completed her residency and Ophthalmology training in Hong Kong Eye Hospital. Dr. Chan sub-specializes in neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma as well as low vision. She obtained her overseas training in the United States after being awarded the Li-Po-Chun Charitable Trust Overseas Training Scholarships. She is a Council member of the Asia Neuro-ophthalmology Society (ASNOS) and an international member of the North America Neuro-ophthalmology Society (NANOS). She is currently working as a Consultant in Prince of Wales Hospital & Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital as well as Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of CUHK. She is also the service director for glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology and electrodiagnostic services in New Territory East Cluster in Hong Kong. Dr. Chan is also the Honorary Advisor of Hong Kong Glaucoma Patients’ Association & NMO HK. Apart from a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Chan has delivered more than 20 presentations and invited lectures in local and international conferences. She is also the secretary of the standing committee of APAO Ophthalmic Education Committee since 2015 and she received APAO Achievement Award in 2017. Dr. Chan’s major research work focuses on glaucoma in particular angle closure glaucoma and normal tension glaucoma. Other areas of interest include optic neuropathies and ocular imaging. In 2018, She was awarded Distinguished Young Fellow by Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
