Dr. Sushma Tejwani completed her medical training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak in 1999 before doing a fellowship in comprehensive ophthalmology (2000-2003) at L.V.Prasad Eye Institute. She worked as faculty at LVPEI (2003-2007) where she was actively involved in the education and training programs and headed the LVP-Zeiss Academy. She has undergone short-term training for glaucoma at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA with Dr. Arthur Sit in 2007. She has also done her PhD with VIT University, Vellore.
She has presently working as the consultant and head of Glaucoma Services at Narayana Nethralaya-2, Narayana Health City, Bangalore since July 2007. She is actively involved in implementing NABH quality standards and has been working as an accreditation co-coordinator for Narayana Nethralaya-2 since 2010.
She has presented as faculty at more than 170 national and international meetings. She has 41 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has also written a few book chapters. She has been a reviewer for IJO, the Journal of Glaucoma, Journal of Ophthalmology. She has received multiple awards, the most recent being the IJO Silver Award, DB Chandra Disha Award, and Dr. Basheer Mekhri Award. She has been part of many prestigious clinical trials as principal investigator. Her chief interests are glaucoma shunts, biomarkers in glaucoma, pediatric glaucoma, and MIGS surgeries.
