Dr. Dorairaj is a Professor of Ophthalmology, Mayo College of Medicine and Science, and Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Florida. Program Director for Glaucoma and Comprehensive Ophthalmology, International Council of Ophthalmology, International Ophthalmology Fellowship Foundation and Glaucoma Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Dorairaj is a recipient of achievement awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and has given named orations and keynote lectures at national and international conferences.

Dr. Dorairaj is one of the pioneers of minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries and has done extensive research on understanding the biomechanical aspects of glaucoma especially angle closure. Trained at the New York Eye and Ear infirmary and, Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has undergone training as a clinician-scientist at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, as a Fellow in Ophthalmic Molecular Genetics. Has held positions of Director of Ultrasound Biomicroscopy and Anterior Segment Imaging and the Director of Clinical Research at the New York Eye and Ear infirmary, New York. One of the founding members of the journal Clinical and Experimental Vision and Eye Research, he is also on the editorial board for the Journal of Current Glaucoma Practice. He has been a peer reviewer for multiple international ophthalmic journals and external reviewer for multiple international bodies and committees including Ministry of Health, Malaysia, and the Government of Hong Kong. Mentored multiple international and national fellows who are working in academic positions all around the globe. He has presented over 100 instructional courses and over 300 lectures worldwide and has been an invited speaker and chaired sessions at national and international conferences. He has co-authored over 350 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, over 50 book chapters and editorials, and a book on glaucoma management. He has been the program chair at multiple international conferences including the World Ophthalmology Congress, World Glaucoma Congress, World Glaucoma Association, and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. He is on the advisory board for the International Society of Glaucoma Surgery and for multiple industry partners including Alcon Inc., New World Medical, Iridex Inc. and Allergan Inc.
