I’m currently a Professor of Ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology at UCSF. I’m the Medical Director of the glaucoma service and Medical Director of the Ophthalmology Department.

In addition to my clinical work in cataract and glaucoma, I am an NIH funded clinical researcher studying glaucoma surgical outcome, especially focusing on glaucoma drainage device (GDD)’s surgery outcomes and primary angle closure diseases. My research also includes designing novel GDDs to minimize scar formation after the surgery. I have received NEI K21 study a Fibrosis-free Glaucoma Drainage Implants and UG1 fundings to conduct the DECLARE trial (Glaucoma Drainage Device and Endothelial Cell Loss Compare Trial). I have over 90 peer-reviewed publications two book chapters. I currently serve as Chair for research committee at American Glaucoma society (AGS).
